Wang Yi Dong

Wang Yidong, born in the Yimeng Mountain area of Shandong Province in 1955. He gained admittance to the Central Academy of Fine Art (CAFA), Beijing, and graduated in 1982. He has been teaching there ever since. Wang is known for his portrait studies, in particular people of his native regions. He is regarded as one of the representatives of Chinese Oil Portraits in modern era. 
 
In 1984, he participated in the 16th International Art Fair, France; the Sixth Asian Art Fair, Japan. 
 
In 1986, he participated in Seventh Asian Fair, India. 
 
In 1987, he took part in Contemporary Chinese Oil Painting Exhibition, New York, USA; he also participated in the International Art Fair in New York. 
 
In 1988, he donated a painting to a Charity auction organized on Sotheby's behalf for the International Committee for the Safeguarding of Venice and the Great Wall. 
 
In 1990, He joined a Group Exhibition, organized by the Modern Art Museum, Dallas, Texas, USA; his works are shown in the International Art Fair in Chicago, USA. 
 
In 1992, he participated in group exhibition Oil Paintings from Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China; then he participated in group participation Oil Paintings from Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, Hong Kong. 
 
In 1993, his painting Bridal Chamber exhibited in Tresor D'Art, World Trade Center, Singapore; other paintings Yi River and Late Spring exhibited in Art Asia'93, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. 
 
In 1994, his works are again exhibited in Art Asia 94, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. 
 
In 1995, he participated in Vision of China-Contemporary Painting by Chinese masters, Pacific City Club, Bangkok, Thailand. Later his works were exhibited in the Taipei Art Fair organized in the Taipei World Trade Center in Taiwan. 
 
In 1996, his third solo show organized by Schoeni Art Gallery was held. He also participated in the Contemporary Chinese Oil Painting Exhibition, from Realism to Post-Modernism, held in Galerie Theoremes, Brussels, Belgium. Another exhibition Inaugural Exhibition II was held in Rado Gallery, Switzerland. 
 
In 1997, Images of Women IV, the fifth anniversary exhibition was held in Schoeni Gallery, Hong Kong. He then also took part in the 10th Anniversary Chinese Oil Painting, USA, Nostalgia, Macau. 
 
In 1998, he exhibited in "East Meets West", Quartier 206, Berlin, Germany. 
 
In 2002, he exhibited in "Invitational Exhibition of Master Paintings", Liuhaisu Museum of Fine Art, Shanghai, China. 
 
In 2003, he attended the "3rd Chinese Oil Painting Exhibition" and "1st Beijing International Art Biennale", both at National Museum of Fine Arts, Beijing. 
 
In 2004 & 2005, he exhibited in the 1st & 2nd "Annual Beijing Neo-Realism Group Exhibition", National Museum of Fine Arts, Beijing, China.


Award In 1984, he won the golden prize of the Sixth National Art Exhibition organized in the National Gallery, Beijing.

Collection His work of "The Old Village" is in the collection of China National Art Gallery.
